Project Background

As one of the landmarks of Shanghai, Jin Mao Tower is China's tallest and the world's 3rd tallest building (the 1st and 2nd highest being respectively the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and the Sears Tower in Chicago, US). Standing tall by the Huangpu (Whangpoo) River and opposite the centre of Lujiazui Finance & Trade Zone & the Oriental Pearl Radio and Television Tower in the distance, it is near to the underground exit on the Yanan East Road and linked to the No. 2 underground line. The 91-storied building (88 stories above ground and 3 underground), 420.5 meters high, covers a land area of 23,611 square metres and a gross floor area of 290 thousand square metres. It is a multifunctional building including offices, businesses, hotel services etc. The 88th floor, 341 metres above ground and capable of holding more than 1,000 tourists, is the highest sight-seeing floor in China. Two high-speed elevators, moving at a speed of 9.1 metres per second, may lift tourists from the 1st floor directly to the sight-seeing floor in 45 seconds, where they can have a bird's-eye view of Shanghai.
