Spielberg / Shanghai – The Styrian Ökosolar Group ("Ökosolar") and Daqo Electric International Co., LTD. ("Daqo International") have signed a strategic cooperation agreement during a multi-day trip to China. The goal of the partnership is to jointly expand innovative infrastructure projects for Europe's energy transition. The agreement also covers exclusive distribution and cooperation rights for Austria, as well as the joint development of European market activities.
The collaboration focuses on the development and implementation of modern transformer stations, digitalized transfer stations, and intelligent medium-voltage switchgear for photovoltaic, storage, and charging infrastructure projects. It brings together European project and system expertise with Daqo's international manufacturing and technology experience.
Focus on Digitalized and Standardized Grid Infrastructure
During the China visit, discussions and factory tours covered several production sites as well as technology centers for energy infrastructure and industrial switchgear. Particular attention was given to highly standardized transformer stations, modular transfer stations, and digitally monitored medium-voltage systems, which are expected to be used more widely in European projects in the future.
"The energy transition requires not only renewable generation, but above all a powerful and digitalized grid infrastructure. With Daqo International, we are gaining a strong strategic partner to implement innovative solutions for the next generation of energy projects. Our goal is to jointly build standardized and economical solutions for transformer stations, charging infrastructure, and intelligent energy grids in Austria and Europe," explains Managing Director Bernd Lippacher of Ökosolar.
"Ökosolar brings strong local project and system expertise, while Daqo contributes engineering, manufacturing capability and experience in medium-voltage electrical equipment. Through this cooperation, we aim to support reliable, standardized infrastructure solutions for energy transition projects in Austria and across Europe," says Allen Duan, General Manager of Daqo International.
The partners are pursuing a long-term strategic approach. In addition to supplying components, they plan to establish common development standards, digital monitoring solutions, and standardized system platforms. The objective is to shorten project lead times, strengthen grid stability and make the integration of large-scale storage systems, photovoltaic plants and energy communities more efficient.
New Opportunities for Innovation
The cooperation opens up new possibilities for:
-
Compact and modularly designed transformer stations
-
Digitalized transfer stations with remote monitoring
-
Intelligent medium-voltage switchgear
-
Standardized infrastructure for large-scale storage and PV systems
-
Infrastructure for fast-charging and charging park systems
With this agreement, both companies underscore their commitment to helping modernize European energy infrastructure and enabling the expansion of renewable energy through reliable technology.
